What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let the site remember things between page views — for example, what you have put in your basket.
This website, permitted-development.com, is operated by Yorkshire Property Design Services Limited. We keep our use of these files to a minimum. We use two kinds:
- Strictly necessary — needed for the website to work. These run the basket and checkout, and they remember the choice you make on our consent banner. They are set automatically because the site cannot function without them.
- Analytics — these help us count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. We only use these if you agree on the consent banner.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking files, and we do not sell or share your browsing data.
How we use cookies
We use these files for two purposes only.
To run the shop. When you add a drawing package or a guide to your basket, our shop software (WooCommerce) stores a session file so your basket and checkout details are remembered as you move between pages. Without it the basket would empty on every click, so this is always on.
To record your consent choice. When you answer our consent banner we store that answer, so you are not asked again on every page.
To understand how the site is used, if you agree. If you accept analytics on the banner, we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous statistics such as which pages are viewed and how long people stay. If you decline, analytics is not loaded at all.
Public account registration is turned off on this website, so we do not set anything for creating or managing customer accounts.
Third party cookies
Two third parties are involved, and only for the purposes described above.
- Cookiebot (Usercentrics) — provides the consent banner and records the choice you make.
- Google Analytics — provides anonymous visitor statistics. This is loaded only if you accept analytics. Google states it will not associate your IP address with any other data it holds.
Some pages embed a Google map so you can see our office location. If you view a page with a map, Google may set its own files. We have no control over those, and you can block them in your browser settings.
We do not run advertising networks, remarketing pixels or social media tracking on this website.
The cookies we set
The main items this website uses are:
- Shop session — set by WooCommerce when you use the basket, so your basket and checkout progress are remembered. Strictly necessary.
- Basket contents — a small record of what is in your basket and its value, so the basket total can be shown. Strictly necessary.
- Consent record — set by Cookiebot to remember your answer to the banner. Strictly necessary.
- Google Analytics — set only if you accept analytics, to distinguish visitors and sessions for anonymous statistics.
Exact names can change when our shop or analytics providers update their software. The current, itemised list is always shown in the consent banner, under the category headings, where you can also change your choice at any time.
Disabling cookies
Most browsers accept these files automatically, but you can change that. The Help menu in your browser explains how to block them, how to be notified when one is set, and how to delete those already stored.
You can also change your analytics choice at any time using the consent banner on this website. Declining analytics does not affect your ability to browse, buy or download.
Please note: if you block the strictly necessary items, the basket and checkout will not work, because the website cannot remember what you have selected from one page to the next.
